Configuring
Netscape 3.x

- Obtain
Netscape Navigator - by visiting Netscape
Communications Corporation.
- Install
the program into the default directories.
- Start
Netscape Navigator.
- Select
from the Window menu Netscape News
- Select
from the Options menu Mail and News Preferences
- Configure
your NNTP News server address.
- Select
the Server tab.
- Enter
in the News (NNTP) Server: news.cit-news.com.
- Configure
your User Information profile.
- Select
the Identity tab.
- Complete
all field with the appropriate information
- Click
OK.
- Configure
your Number of connections to 1.
- Select
from the Options menu Network Preferences.
- Select
the Connections tab.
- Enter
1 as the number of connections.
- Click
OK.
- Show
newsgroups
- Select
from the news server window news.cit-news.com
- Double
Click to open the folder
- Enter
user C.I.T. username and password when prompted.
- Select
from the Options menu Show All Newsgroups
Make sure you let Netscape finish downloading the groups list,
otherwise it will truncate the list and you will need to delete
the news host and begin again.
- Click
on a newsgroup to access & read Usenet.
You will need to click twice on an article before
Netscape responds to your retrieve article command. The first click
will usually give you an error message. The second click should
show the article.
