  11. Why are some multi-part binary postings incomplete while another news server has all of the parts? top

Usenet is not a centralized system. A post on one server will not show up on all servers simultaneously. The posts travel to other trusted news servers across the net, like a ripple in the pond. Eventually, they all show up and they show up faster if they are closer to the source. We have multiple source feeds so we can get more news faster. If you post something on your ISP it may be days before its on all usenet servers on the net. This is because of the decentralized nature of usenet.

Some people put up posts in segments because they don't have enough bandwidth/time to put it up all at once. Then they never complete the job. Some people start their upload and get interrupted or disconnected. Not all Multipost binaries are complete. The longer the list, the less likely you'll get it complete unless they are put out by some semi-professional usenet organization. (the regulars do a good job and use good news servers with less problems).

The binary sections have been heavily ravaged at times. We have turned off all cancel permissions to minimize damage from these attacks. BUT this doesn't mean a cancel message can't intercept the post before it reaches us. We have multiple feeds to minimize the chance of interception.

Basically, the longer the post series, the larger the chance that something will happen to it before it gets out net wide.

  12. I sent out a post and I have not seen it in the newsgroup. What happened to it? top

We have a server dedicated to posting. It immediately sends out your post to over 15 different sources. This is not the same news server that you read off of.

This server will receive the post within 15-20 minutes. Normally, it will show up within an hour...if it has taken more than an hour from your posting time for it to show up, then contact our Technical Support Department. You may test our posting service by posting to:
